Cardinal Arinze on Abortion and Politics

I love Cardinal Arinze. He does not beat around the bush, but rather gets right to the heart of the matter:

Minor Revisions with Jennifer Fulwiler - Episode 2

I am very thankful to hear that Catholic blogger Jennifer Fulwiler seems to be doing much better after a very serious health issue. The second episode of Jennifer's Catholic reality show Minor Revisions (produced by the NET NY Catholic TV network) has now been posted online, and you can watch it here:

This episode features an interview with pro-life author and former abortion clinic manager Abby Johnson, and a visit to the pro-life Vitae Clinic. You can also watch the first episode of Minor Revisions here.

The third and final episode has already aired on NET NY, but I will post it here if it becomes available online.

March for Life 2013 - Full Two-Hour Video from EWTN

EWTN has posted a YouTube video of their March for Life coverage, starting at the beginning of the march, and going all the way to the conclusion of their live coverage. The video omits the rally that preceded the march, where several political and religious leaders spoke to the assembled crowd, but it apparently includes EWTN's full two hours of live coverage of the march itself.

If you missed the March for Life on EWTN last week, here is your chance to watch it:

A Nation Rises - March for Life 2013

Make sure to see my previous post below for a link to live coverage of the March for Life on EWTN.

March for Life 2013 - Live Video Coverage on EWTN

Sorry for the lack of posting -- it has just been a busy time lately.

Today is the 40th annual March for Life in Washington, D.C., sadly commemorating the 40th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision which legalized abortion in the United States. You can watch live coverage of the March for Life today on EWTN starting at 10:00 AM Eastern Time. Here is the link for EWTN live streaming online:

EWTN Live Video

Tips: You can make the video display full-screen by clicking the button in the lower-right corner of the video. Also, if you right-click on the video, there is a "Stretching" option that you can toggle to set the correct aspect ratio, so that people on the screen don't look like they are stretched out. (I think you have to click on the "Stretching is..." command twice to get the correct aspect ratio.)

Ronald Reagan on Abortion and Adoption

Considering this week's depressing election results, let's take a moment to remember a different American president -- one who certainly wasn't perfect, but one who is missed by many Americans, especially in comparison to the major-party presidential candidates (from both parties) in recent years:

And no, Ronald Reagan was not a Catholic, so one might argue that these videos do not belong on a blog that is focused on Catholic videos. But he was a Christian, and he certainly knew how to give a good defense of the sanctity of life, which is an issue that is very important to Catholics (as well as to many non-Catholics).

Video from Ireland debunks the "life of the mother" argument for abortion

If I understand correctly, abortion is currently illegal in Ireland, but there is a concerted effort to change that fact. Apparently the pro-abortion forces are using the idea of permitting abortion to save the life of the mother as a wedge issue to help pave the way to legalizing abortion in Ireland. The following video does an excellent job of obliterating this "life of the mother" argument:

One line that I thought was ironic in the video (and perhaps unintentionally so), was this:

In fact, the United Nations says that Ireland is one of the safest places for a mother to have a baby.

I assume that they mean safest for the mother. But of course, my first thought was that of course a nation where abortion is illegal would be one of the safest places for a mother to have a baby — because unlike many nations, Ireland protects that baby from being killed by abortion.

Jimmy Akin: Does Science Show That the Unborn Are Human Beings?

Why is Jimmy wearing a Flash t-shirt in this video? I have no idea. But he makes clear and convincing arguments, as usual.

Two March for Life videos from OneBillionStories.com

The young man behind the web site OneBillionStories.com was at the 2012 March for Life. He created several videos from his trip, and I selected these as my two favorites. The first one highlights the testimony of a woman who regrets her abortion. The second one is a short interview with Bobby Schindler, the brother of Terry Schiavo.

Interviews with Fr. Frank Pavone, Abby Johnson, and David Bereit at the 2012 March for Life

Heartbeat International conducted interviews with several big names in the pro-life movement at this year's March for Life. Here are the videos:

Fr. Frank Pavone, national director of Priests for Life:

Abby Johnson, former Planned Parenthood clinic director, and author of Unplanned:

David Bereit, founder and director of 40 Days for Life:

Babies Go to Congress

Heartbeat International is a network of pro-life crisis pregnancy centers and maternity homes, which work to support mothers and babies both before and after pregnancy and birth. In conjunction with this year's March for Life in Washington, D.C., Heartbeat International conducted a "Babies Go to Congress" campaign. They brought some of the many women that they have helped, and their children, to Washington to talk to members of Congress about the good that is being done across the country by pro-life crisis pregnancy centers and maternity homes. Here are the testimonies of three of these women:

Students from Thomas Aquinas College at the 2012 Walk for Life West Coast

From the YouTube video description:

More than 200 Thomas Aquinas College students helped lead the way through the streets of San Francisco on January 21, 2012 — in remembrance of the 39th anniversary of Roe v. Wade — for the eighth annual Walk for Life West Coast. The students prayed, sang, and peacefully bore witness to the Culture of Life with some 50,000 walkers.

Roughly two-thirds of Thomas Aquinas students have attended the Walk every year since its founding in 2005, and over the years they have increasingly taken on leadership roles within the event.

By the way, these students are from Thomas Aquinas College in Santa Paula, California, not Aquinas College in Nashville, Tennessee. Both are very good Catholic colleges though, from everything I have heard.

2011 March for Life in 50 Seconds

Here is a time-lapse video showing the entire 2011 March for Life compressed into about 50 seconds. It is from last year's march, but it is a great video for demonstrating the sheer size of the crowd at the march each year:

Here are some details on the video, from the description on YouTube:

This is a timelapse of the 2011 "March for Life" in Washington D.C. This video is 599 still images taken every ten seconds for a total duration of 99 minutes. The official start of the march is designated by the banner you see at about 13 seconds in. Everyone in front of that banner jumped the gun. That is why there is a sizable gap just before that banner.

You may also want to check out a similar time lapse video, also from last year's march. I will watch for a time lapse video of this year's March for Life, and I will post it here if I find a good one.

(Thanks to Steven Greydanus for the link to this video, which he provided in one of the comments on his March for Life Live-Blogging post at the National Catholic Register.)

College Students at the 2012 March for Life

In this video, CampusReform.org interviews some of the many college students who attended the 2012 March for Life in Washington, D.C.

(Please note that I know very little about CampusReform.org, and I do not necessarily endorse their political positions or activities. But I do think that they did a nice job with this video.)

March for Life Video from the Dioceses of Charlotte and Raleigh

Here is a nice photo montage of the March for Life and related events, from the Diocese of Charlotte and the Diocese of Raleigh:

Here is the video description from YouTube:

Catholic faithful from the Diocese of Charlotte and the Diocese of Raleigh traveled by bus to the annual March for Life in Washington, D.C., Jan. 22-23, 2012, to protest the 39th anniversary of Roe v. Wade and the legalization of abortion.

Christendom College Leads the March for Life

Here is a video showing students from Christendom College carrying the banner and leading this year's March for Life in Washington, D.C.:

From the video's description on YouTube:

On January 23, the entire student body of Christendom College, including members of the faculty and staff, led hundreds of thousands in protesting abortion at the 39th Annual March for Life in Washington, D.C. Select students were given the honor of carrying the lead March for Life banner as well as the official March for Life flags.

You can learn more about Christendom College at their website. Also check out Christendom's YouTube channel.
