Something Other Than God

Jennifer Fulwiler's book, Something Other Than God, about her conversion from atheism to Catholicism, was released this week. I have ordered the book for my wife, and I am looking forward to reading it too.

Here is a video of various bloggers and authors reading passages from this book. Be sure to watch for the great C. S. Lewis quote at the end, which was the source of the book's title:

Jennifer discusses the story behind the video here on her blog.

Jennifer Fulwiler on Atheism, Science, and Belief in God

Catholic blogger Jennifer Fulwiler posted on her blog today about the Explore God campaign which is being heavily promoted in and around Austin, Texas. This campaign appears to be designed to lead people to Christianity, mostly from a non-denominational or inter-denominational Protestant perspective, though I found some information on the site that is somewhat Catholic-friendly.

Jennifer mentions that, to her surprise, she is featured in one of the videos on the Explore God web site. In the video she talks about how she came to Christianity from atheism. Here is the video:

And please do take the time to read Jennifer's blog post if you get a chance. She make some great points about what it really means to have proof of the truth of Christianity.

Minor Revisions with Jennifer Fulwiler - Episode 2

I am very thankful to hear that Catholic blogger Jennifer Fulwiler seems to be doing much better after a very serious health issue. The second episode of Jennifer's Catholic reality show Minor Revisions (produced by the NET NY Catholic TV network) has now been posted online, and you can watch it here:

This episode features an interview with pro-life author and former abortion clinic manager Abby Johnson, and a visit to the pro-life Vitae Clinic. You can also watch the first episode of Minor Revisions here.

The third and final episode has already aired on NET NY, but I will post it here if it becomes available online.

Minor Revisions with Jennifer Fulwiler - Episode 1

I posted last week about Jennifer Fulwiler's reality show Minor Revisions, which is airing in three episodes on NET NY, a Catholic TV network in New York. My wife and I watched the first episode as it aired live last night (we watched via the rather choppy internet stream), and now the full episode has been posted to YouTube:

Please see my previous post for information on when and where you can watch the next two episodes. (And if the next two episodes are posted to YouTube, I will post them here on this blog as well.)

(Video found on Aggie Catholics.)

UPDATE: According to Jennifer's blog, this episode was posted to YouTube only because many people had problems with the online streaming when it aired live. The episode will be available for a limited time only, so watch it while you can. Also, it sounds unlikely that the other two episodes will be posted to YouTube (but you can watch them via live streaming).

Brandon Vogt interviews Fr. Dwight Longenecker

Brandon Vogt (who blogs at brandonvogt.com) interviews Fr. Dwight Longenecker (who blogs at Standing on My Head on Patheos.com). In this interview they discuss Fr. Longenecker's conversion to the Catholic Church, the danger of "ism"s, the impact of C. S. Lewis, and Catholic books.

"The Journey Home" Roundtable Discussion on Sacred Tradition

Marcus Grodi, Roy Schoeman, Mark Shea, Scott Hahn, and Fr. Ray Ryland discuss the role of Sacred Tradition in the Catholic faith:

I found this video some time ago on Mark Shea's blog, and I will quote his minor correction to the video's captioning: "I'm not a former Baptist. I'm a former garage band pagan from Wayne's World who became a former non-denominational Evangelical by finally becoming a Catholic."

Coming Home Network "Deep in History" Conference: Sola Scriptura Discussion

This video is an episode of The Journey Home on EWTN, but it is not a standard episode in which a Catholic convert tells his or her story in a one-on-one conversation with Marcus Grodi. Instead, this episode shows a panel discussion on the Protestant doctrine of Sola Scriptura, featuring five Catholic converts.

Here is the description of the video from EWTN's YouTube channel (edited for punctuation, spelling, and capitalization):

Marcus Grodi hosts this special session during the CHN Conference as the panel guests discuss their journeys in relation to Sola Scriptura. The five panel guests are Dr. Kenneth Howell, former Presbyterian minister; Bruce Sullivan, former Church of Christ minister; Dr. Paul Thigpen, former Evangelical minister; Richard Lane, former Lutheran; and Dr. Scott Hahn, former Presbyterian minister.

Jennifer Fulwiler talks about her conversion from atheism

I had this post scheduled for next week. But then late yesterday I discovered that Jennifer Fulwiler had mentioned my blog on her well-written and popular Conversion Diary blog. I certainly didn't expect that! Jennifer, if you are reading here, thanks for your recognition of my blog, and congratulations on winning several categories in the Catholic New Media Awards. I wish I had remembered to vote for those awards, but it looks like you did OK anyway. :-)

In light of Jennifer mentioning my blog, I thought it would be appropriate to move this post up to today. Here is the post as I had already composed it:

A few weeks ago, I posted a video of Jennifer Fulwiler (of the excellent Conversion Diary blog) on EWTN, discussing her conversion from atheism to the Catholic Church. Here is another video in which Mrs. Fulwiler presents a talk on this same topic. The first half of the video is her talk, followed by a question and answer session in the second half of the video.

Jennifer Fulwiler's conversion story

In this episode of The Choices We Face, Jennifer Fulwiler of the excellent Conversion Diary blog tells her story of conversion from atheist to Catholic:

Reverse Thinking

This is a very clever video, about the radically changed worldview that comes from converting from atheism to Christianity:

Thanks to the Kresta in the Afternoon blog for the video.
