A Nice Video in Defense of Marriage, from Ireland

Here is another video in defense of marriage. This video makes some of the same important points that Dr. Morse made in the previous video that I posted, but in a much shorter and simpler format:

(Found via the Ruth Institute blog.)

Dr. Jennifer Roback Morse: "Same Sex Marriage: Why Not?"

Since the U.S. Supreme Court is hearing arguments today and tomorrow on two cases dealing with so-called same-sex marriage, here is a good video on this topic:

I found this video at the Aggie Catholics blog. I recommend their post on the subject, Why Same-Sex Marriage Is A Bad Idea.

For further reading, I also recommend USA Today's interview with Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone on the topic of redefining marriage. It is one of the best short articles I have read on this subject, particularly in the mainstream press.

David Blankenhorn on Marriage

In the following series of videos, David Blankenhorn delves deeply into the topic of marriage, and specifically why we should not re-define marriage as a gender-neutral institution (i.e., why we should not implement so-called same-sex "marriage").

These videos are not really Catholic videos, since Mr. Blankenhorn analyzes this issue from a decidedly secular perspective. However, most of his conclusions seem to be aligned reasonably well with Catholic teaching on this issue (though he does deviate from Catholic teaching on a few points), and he makes a powerful argument. Therefore, I thought that the videos were worth presenting on this blog.

I was not able to find embeddable versions of these videos, so please click on each link below to launch the corresponding video in a separate window or tab:

Dr. Jennifer Roback Morse on the attempt to redefine marriage

Dr. Jennifer Roback Morse is a great advocate for marriage, who has written on many of the problems facing marriage today. In this talk at the Franciscan University of Steubenville, Dr. Morse discusses the attempt to redefine marriage as a gender-neutral institution (i.e., the attempt to institute so-called "same-sex marriage").
